Player Profile:

Short and stocky fair-haired local player who was signed by Millwall as a 16 year-old in January 1962. Dennis then returned to Thanet and played three times for Margate's reserves during the 1962/63 season.

In June 1963 he was formally signed by the club and made his first team debut aged 17 on 30.9.63 as Margate drew 0-0 with Guildford at Hartsdown Park. However the local paper said that he looked a little out of his depth. Nonetheless, Dennis went on to make a total of four first team appearances during the season and scored twice. Both goals came in a 3-2 win at Ashford in a Kent Floodlight Cup match on 4.3.64. Dennis also did well for the reserves during the campaign, scoring nine times in 23 appearances for them.

He made one further first team appearance early in the 1964/65 season before joining Deal in November 1964 in part-exchange for Colin Holder.

However Dennis' spell with Deal was brief and he left the club before the end of the season.

He died in Thanet in April 2002 aged just 56.
