Local player, who was a pupil of Dane Court School, who graduated through the club’s youth section and made two first-team appearances in 2014-15, both as a sub.

He came on in the 90th minute to replace Tom Phipp in an Isthmian League Cup tie at home to Hythe Town on 7.10.14, a game which Margate won 2-0. He also came off the bench in the next round of the Isthmian League Cup on 18.11.14 – a 3-1 win at home to Faversham Town. He replaced Joe Jefferies.

James later played for Minster in the Kent County League.

He then became a stand-up comedian, performing all over the country. He reached the semi-finals of the 'So You Think You're Funny' competition in Edinburgh in 2023 and has been a finalist twice at King Gong at The Comedy Store.
