Player Profile:

Born in Welwyn Garden City, Joe started his career with Southend United before moving to Bishop's Stortford then Histon where he played more than 50 matches in the Conference.

He then moved to Stevenage on loan before joining Ebbsfleet United. Welch moved to Bromley in 2012 and was voted their supporters’ player of the season for 2012/13.

Joe made one appearance for Margate in 2013/14 - in a 2-0 defeat at Dulwich Hamlet on 24.09.13. An injury to Craig Holloway had prompted the signing of Joe as cover on dual registration from Bromley.

He then moved to St Albans City in the summer of 2014. During his first season with the Saints, he won both the supporters’ player of the season award and also the players’ player of the season award.

Joe was released by the Saints at the end of the 2015/2016 season and subsequently signed for Chelmsford City but was released in September 2016. Joe then played for Royston Town and Cambridge City.

Joe also won cap for the England C team for a match in Hungary.

In his time at Royston, he said: "Peter Schmeichel was my idol! Just the way he played I used to love. I made my parents get his name on the back of a shirt. They weren’t happy paying per letter!"

He said his favourite player played with was Freddy Eastwood when Joe was at Southend. "His finishing was unbelievable! And you used to see him riding his horse and cart up and down the A127."
