Player Profile:
Attack-minded player who began his senior career with Welling during the 1982/83 season before catching the eye of Millwall who signed him as an apprentice.
In the summer of 1985, John rejoined Welling and, when he left the Wings again at the end of the 1985/86 season, he'd made 135 appearances and scored 44 goals for the club.
John started the 1986/87 campaign with Dartford, scoring twice in nine appearances (two as sub) there, and then had a short spell at Fisher before linking up with Crawley towards the end of the season.
In the summer of 1988, John left Crawley to join Bromley but serious injury problems led to him being released after making just 19 appearances (six as sub) for the Hayes Lane outfit.
After a lengthy spell out of football, John signed for Margate in November 1989 - he was a free agent at the time. He made his debut in a 1-1 draw with Canterbury at Hartsdown Park on 14.11.89 and then played regularly in midfield for the next few weeks. On 12.12.89, he played up front as Margate were hammered 6-1 at Dartford in a Southern League Cup tie and John then left the club having made six appearances (one as sub) without scoring.
During the 1990/91 season, John had a spell at Erith & Belvedere and scored for the Deres in their 4-2 defeat at Margate on 26.2.91. In total, he scored twice in seven appearances before leaving the club.
