Player Profile:

6' 0" tall defender who started his career with spells at Reading and then Arsenal. Les was with the Gunners during the 1945/46 campaign and towards the end of that season he played in a friendly at Cheltenham.

In the summer of 1946, Les was signed by Cheltenham and featured in their Southern League side during the first half of the 1946/47 campaign before moving on to Windsor & Eton of the Corinthian League later in the season.

He joined Canterbury ahead of the 1947/48 campaign and, after about 18 months with City, Les linked up with Tonbridge in March 1949.

In August 1949, he signed for Margate and Les made his debut in a 2-1 win over Betteshanger at Hartsdown Park on 20.8.49 - the opening day of the 1949/50 Kent League campaign. He proved to be a defensively sound player and made a total of 16 appearances during the season. Les usually played at right-back but also wore the number three shirt a few times.

He left the club in April 1950, having fallen out of favour in the later stages of the campaign.
