In February 2015, Montel went on a work experience loan to Southern League club Royston Town. He spent a similar spell at Isthmian Premier side Grays Athletic in October 2015.
After spells at Fisher and Maldon & Tiptree, he joined East Thurrock United of National League South prior to the 2016-17 season.
In May 2018, Montel signed for Wealdstone and joined Welling United in November 2018.
In June 2021, he signed for Margate. Manager Jay Saunders told Kent Online: “Montel is a technically gifted central midfielder who enhances the squad we’re building a great deal.”
He scored in the 5-2 Thanet Cup win at Ramsgate on 31.7.21. Montel was an important part of the Margate team in 2021-22. He made 53 appearances (including four as sub) and scored two goals – in a 4-1 defeat at Merstham in the FA Cup on 18.9.21 and in a 4-2 win at home to Worthing on 14.12.21.
In June 2022, Montel joined Billericay Town following their relegation from National League South but returned to Margate a year later.
Montel broke his tibia in a 2-1 home defeat to Cheshunt on 25.8.23 and was ruled out for the rest of the season. He had made just four appearances in 2023-24. A benefit match was held for him at Hartsdown in October 2023 against SE Dons.
Montel finally returned to playing when he joined Horsham in August 2024. He helped Horsham to the Isthmian Premier title in 2024-25, making 32 appearances.

He later made a few appearances for Brentwood Town to regain fitness. Montel then signed for Cray Valley of the Isthmian Premier in January 2026.
