Player Profile:

Versatile Woking-born player who joined Aldershot as a 15 year-old on 22.7.63 but never made the first team there. Phil left the club at the end of the 1965/66 season and joined Margate in August 1966.

He made his debut on 5.9.66 in a Southern League Cup tie against Hastings at Hartsdown Park and went on to make a total of 43 appearances (five as a substitute) without scoring during the 1966/67 campaign as Margate won promotion from the Southern League Division One by finishing as runners-up. Phil featured in both full-back positions and after a shaky start to his Margate career he turned in a string of solid performances during the second half of the season.

However, Phil found himself in the reserves for the majority of the 1967/68 campaign and he made just 12 first team appearances (one as substitute).

At the end of the season he was released after failing to agree terms and he joined Hastings where he spent both the 1968/69 and 1969/70 campaigns.
