Sam graduated from Dartford’s academy. He joined Margate on loan in February 2022, a deal that was subsequently extended until the end of the season.

His Margate debut was in a 2-1 home win over Tooting & Mitcham in the Isthmian League Cup on 22.2.22. Sam played regularly at full-back and midfield until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

He then returned to the Darts where he forced his way into the first-team in 2022-23. After his debut, Dartford manager Alan Dowson told Kent Online: "He'll be a Football League player, I've got no doubt about it. I haven’t seen any better left-backs or midfielders than him for his age."

Sam was still with the Darts in 2024-25.
