Player Profile:

Reliable left-back from the Isle of Sheppey. As a youngster, Tom attended trials at Maidstone United and played for the reserves before being promoted to the first-team then under former Thanet United player Peter Nott.

He made nearly 350 appearances for Maidstone between 2010 and 2017 as they won several promotions from the Isthmian League Division One South to the National League. Having set an appearance record for the club since it reformed in the 1990s, he left in 2017 as the Stones prepared for life in the National League.

Maidstone boss Jay Saunders told Kent Online: "I am absolutely gutted to lose Millsy but totally respect his decision. He's moved out of his parents' place recently, got a mortgage and priorities change. I've been there and had to weigh up that dilemma.

"He was one of the first names on the team sheet and with every promotion he stepped up and proved himself. He's been a massive part of everything we've achieved in recent years and those 340 appearances will take some beating. I know everyone will join me in thanking him for all he did for the club and wishing him every success for the future."

Tom joined Margate ahead of 2017-18 on a two-year deal and became our regular left-back. He scored his first and only goal for us in a 2-0 win at Leatherhead on 27.9.17.

He was out of action for two months with a knee injury sustained at Burgess Hill on 2.12.17. Ironically, his return was as a substitute at home to the same opposition on 17.2.18.

Tom received a first-half red card for an outrageous two-footed tackle in 1-1 draw at home to Worthing on 31.3.18.

In 2018-19, Tom was virtually ever-present and a reliable performer at the back though he got a red card during a 0-0 draw at Bognor on 20.10.18.

Tom left Margate at end of the season and his next destination was Whitstable Town of the Isthmian South East Division who he joined in August 2020. He became captain and was still there in 2023-24.
