Player Profile:

Well-built winger born in Battersea, London, who began his career with Carshalton. Tommy made his first-team debut for the Surrey club during 1952/53 and went on to spend three seasons there. He also played for Orient's reserves as an amateur during 1955/56 while still on Carshalton's books.

In September 1956, Tommy joined Colchester and he went on to make 157 first-team appearances there spanning the 1956/57-1960/61 seasons.

In June 1961, Tommy was signed by Watford and enjoyed a great start to his career there by scoring five goals in his first four senior games. His tally included a hat-trick in a 4-3 win at Torquay which was remarkable as all three goals were headers and he was only 5' 8" tall. However towards the end of that 1961/62 season he dropped into non-league football and joined Gravesend & Northfleet.

Tommy went on to make a total of 75 appearances for the Fleet, scoring 23 goals, before moving to Margate in January 1964.

He joined the club in a straight swap for Gordon Quinn and made his debut in a 5-1 defeat at Cambridge United on 25.1.64. However, Tommy only played twice more for the first-team before being released at the end of the 1963/64 season.

Tommy died in Westminster, London, on 25.8.87 aged only 52.
