Player Profile:

Thanet-born player who lived in Westgate and served as a flight engineer aboard Sutherland flying boats with the RAF during World War II.

Vic became Margate's regular reserve team keeper for the 1946/47 campaign and also made two first-team appearances during the season. He made his senior debut in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Lloyds Paper Mills at Hartsdown Park on 14.9.46 and also played in a 2-1 home defeat against Ramsgate on 26.4.47.

Vic stayed with the club for 1947/48 and again played twice for the first-team but the local press reported that he was nervous and made a few mistakes that counted against him.

Vic impressed in his two first-team appearances at the start of the 1948/49 campaign but not enough to earn him a regular place. His last senior game was a 6-1 win over Aylesford Paper Mills at Hartsdown on 28.8.48. He left the club at the end of the season.

During the post-war period, Vic worked as a Post Office engineer and in later years he became Commanding Officer of the Thanet Air Training Corps.

He was still playing locally for Birchington in the Kent Amateur League during the 1952/53 season.

Vic died in Thanet on 18.4.84 aged only 62.
