A little piece of history
One of the most unusual pieces of Margate FC memorabilia is a length of wood from the old main stand, which was erected in the late 1920s. It shows row numbers and you can just make out the seat numbers too.
In the early 2000s, both the main stand and the side terracing together with the Coffin End terrace were demolished in readiness for a new stadium. Luckily, Dave Canham, then the club’s general manager, rescued some items including this piece of “Margate FC timber”.
