Young Simon Frampton was a regular at Hartsdown Park but was diagnosed with appendicitis two days before the match and ended up in Margate Hospital. He was sent photos of both teams and curiously in February 1994 Simon ended up playing against a Spurs veterans team in a charity match at Hartsdown Park. The Spurs team included Martin Chivers, Martin Peters, John Pratt and Ralph Coates who’d all played in the 1973 FA Cup tie.
