A season dominated by financial struggles which saw contracted players released and we finished the campaign third from bottom of the table fielding a mixture of local youngsters and veterans. Off the pitch, there were talks with Ramsgate about a potential merger but those fell through and Margate went ahead alone with the name change to Thanet United for 1981-82.
