Agile local keeper who was prominent in Thanet junior football as early as 1974.

Bobby joined Margate during the 1980/81 season and played for the reserves. He then became Thanet United's regular reserve team keeper for the 1981/82 campaign. He carried on playing for United's reserves during the first half of the 1983/84 season and made his first team debut in a 2-1 home defeat against Tonbridge on 11.10.83. Bobby then returned to the reserves but when Craig Godden was dropped in February 1984 he found himself back in the first team. After playing in a 2-1 win over Dunstable at Hartsdown on 11.2.84 Bobby kept his place for the rest of the season. He played in 17 consecutive games and turned in some good performances. Bobby saved a penalty in a 1-0 win over Salisbury at Hartsdown on 17.3.84 and pulled off several fine saves in a 1-0 defeat at Crawley on 7.4.84, preventing two 'certain' goals.

He stayed with the club for the start of the 1984/85 season as back-up keeper to new signing Joe Radford but in September 1984 Bobby suffered torn knee ligaments in a reserve team game and lost his place in the second string to newcomer Glen Porter.

After recovering from his injury Bobby joined Ramsgate and went on to spend several seasons at Southwood as the Rams' first-choice keeper. On 13.4.87 he saved a Frank Ovard penalty as Ramsgate went down 4-0 in the first Isle of Thanet Gazette Cup match at Hartsdown Park.

Towards the end of 1989/90 Bobby returned to Hartsdown Park and played 16 games for Margate's reserves before the season finished.

In the summer of 1991 he joined Kent County League side Phoenix Rovers but Bobby then rejoined Ramsgate later in the 1991/92 campaign. He then spent 1992/93 with the Rams before dropping into local football at the end of that season.

He played the last football of his career during the late 1990's when he turned out for Thanet League club Margate Athletic Old Boys whose squad of veterans also included a host of other former Margate / Thanet players.

Bobby was still living locally in 2007.
