Much-travelled aggressive left-sided player who started his career with Charlton before joining Bromley for the 1983/84 season.

In February 1984 Dave moved on to Tonbridge and during the 1984/85 campaign he had a short spell with Alma Swanley before returning to the Angels.

Dave left Tonbridge to join Folkestone in the summer of 1986 and then signed for Chatham at the start of 1988 before joining Dulwich for the 1988/89 season.

He returned to Kent for the 1989/90 campaign and scored twice in 26 appearances (nine as sub) for Gravesend & Northfleet before briefly returning to Tonbridge towards the end of the season.

Dave's next move took him to Fisher for the start of the 1990/91 campaign and he then had a spell with Erith & Belvedere before signing for Sittingbourne in February 1992.

He was the Brickies' captain during the 1992/93 season and in September 1993 Dave joined Margate.

He made his debut as a substitute in a 3-2 win at Erith & Belvedere on 7.9.93 and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said Dave "showed some nice touches in midfield during the brief time he was on the pitch". On 18.9.93 he made his first start in midfield in a 2-0 defeat against Worthing at Hartsdown Park but shortly before the end of the game Dave was sent off for a second bookable offence. His second booking was for a foul that the Thanet Times said was "committed more in frustration than malice". After serving a three match ban Dave returned to the Margate side as a substitute in a 1-1 draw at Havant on 16.10.93 and the Thanet Times said he "proved outstanding at the back" after coming on early in the game. He then enjoyed a run in the side, featuring in midfield or at left-back, and on 23.10.93 Dave scored the only goal of the game to give Margate a 1-0 home win over Erith & Belvedere. On 9.11.93 he played in a 1-0 win at Fisher in the Kent Senior Cup but it was Dave's last start for Margate. He made three further substitute appearances but in the last of them, a 3-2 defeat at Poole on 27.11.93, Dave was sent off again after 82 minutes. He'd only been on the field for three minutes after coming on when a linesman spotted an off the ball incident and Dave was dismissed. He was released a few days later having scored once in 13 appearances (five as sub).

After leaving Margate Dave had a spell with Thamesmead before rejoining Sittingbourne for the start of the 1994/95 campaign. He went back to Fisher later in the season and then linked up with Folkestone Invicta in the summer of 1995.

Dave was released by Invicta before the end of 1995/96 and joined VCD as player-coach. Whilst playing for them he was sent off for an altercation with a spectator, an incident that led to a lengthy ban.

Dave moved on to Hythe for the start of the 1996/97 season and became captain and later assistant manager there before returning to Folkestone for 1997/98.

During the 1998/99 campaign he played for Leatherhead and then Greenwich Borough where he was also assistant manager.

In March 1999 Dave went back to Erith & Belvedere and stayed with the Deres until becoming Ramsgate's player-assistant manager towards the end of 1999.

In the summer of 2000 he became manager of Ashford's Under-14's side.

During 2002/03 Dave was manager of Ashford's Under-16's and he then became Greenwich's manager for the 2003/04 season.

During the 202005/06 campaign he was player-manager of Thamesmead's reserves and in September 2006 Dave joined Herne Bay as a player.

He made 19 appearances (ten as sub) during the remainder of the 2006/07 season and in the summer of 2007 he became the Bay's player-coach. Dave made five appearances as a sub for Herne Bay's first team during the opening weeks of the 2007/08 campaign but he was sacked by the club after being sent off in a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Colliers Wood in the FA Vase on 22.9.07. He was booked for a bad tackle and then had 'words' with the referee which resulted in another yellow card followed by a red.
