Wide player born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire whose family originally came from Dartford. Eddie played for Kent Boys as a youngster before being signed as an amateur by Charlton.

He moved on to Deal of the Kent League for the 1948/49 season and Eddie won a call-up to the England youth team squad, which also included future Margate player Vince Wright, but didn't win a cap.

In the summer of 1949 Eddie joined Margate and became a regular in the reserves. He also made a one-off appearance for the first team on 28.1.50, scoring in a 2-1 defeat at his old club Deal in the Kent League. Eddie impressed but then suffered an ankle injury that ruled him out of the rest of the 1949/50 campaign. He left the club at the end of the season.

Eddie joined Dover for 1950/51 and played for their reserves before leaving the club.

He also played rugby for Betteshanger and was still turning out for them during the 1952/53 campaign.

Eddie got married in 1955 whilst living in the Thanet area and later emigrated to Australia with his wife.

His real name was actually Elwin Belchamber but he was known as Eddie.
