Also played for:

Tall local keeper who played for Margate Boys as a youth during the 1930/31 season and later played in the Thanet League for Thanet Gas for a spell which included the 1936/37 campaign. Ernie also turned out for Bobby's Sports during that season and continued playing locally for them up to the outbreak of World War II in 1939.

In the summer of 1946 Ernie joined Margate and made his debut in the club's first game after the war - a 1-1 draw at Gillingham Reserves on 31.8.46. He also played in Margate's next match - the return fixture with the Gills at Hartsdown Park on 7.9.46. Although the local press reported that Ernie had made some exceptional saves he then dropped into the reserves before leaving the club.

Ernie went on to play locally for Thanet Press (who'd formerly been Bobby's Sports) until at least the 1948/49 season.

In March 1959 he turned out for a Thanet Press veterans side in a charity match at The Royal School for the Deaf in Margate.

He died in Thanet on 14.8.80 aged 63.
