6' 1" tall striker widely known as 'Siggy' who was born in Le Francois on the French Caribbean Island of Martinique and moved to mainland France at the age of 18.

Jean-Michel started his career with Stad Quimperois before joining Bordeaux in 1997.

He spent two years playing for Bordeaux's reserve team in the Championnat de France Amateur (CFA) - the fourth tier of French football - and he also made one substitute appearance for France's Under-20 team in the Jeux de la Francophonie competition.

Jean-Michel was loaned to US Lusitanos Saint-Maur of Paris (also in the CFA) at the start of the 1999/00 season and scored once in 16 outings for them before having trials with Crewe and Halifax early in March 2000, playing for the reserves at each club.

Later in March 2000 he had another trial, this time in Leyton Orient's reserves, before joining Conference club Rushden & Diamonds on loan from Bordeaux. After scoring four goals before the end of the 1999/00 season Jean-Michel signed a permanent deal with the Diamonds in May 2000.

During the 2000/01 campaign he helped the Diamonds win the Conference title but was generally used as a substitute. Jean-Michel scored seven goals in all competitions.

He stayed with the club for the start of their first season in the Football League and made eight more senior appearances. Jean-Michel scored once - the only goal in a home win over Cheltenham in Division 3 on 22.9.01. After scoring 12 goals in a career total of 40 appearances (19 as sub) for the Diamonds Jean-Michel left the club to join Conference outfit Stevenage Borough in October 2001.

He quickly became a popular player at Broadhall Way and on 2.3.02 Jean-Michel scored twice in Stevenage's 3-1 home win over Margate. On 12.5.02 he was part of the Borough side that lost 2-0 to Yeovil in the FA Trophy Final at Villa Park.

During the early weeks of the 2002/03 season he was linked with a move to Margate and in September 2002 chairman Jim Parmenter told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "Jean-Michel is our target and we will see how things develop." Margate then had a club record bid of £10,000 rejected by Stevenage who wanted a fee of £20,000 and in November 2002 Jean-Michel handed in a transfer request. On 14.12.02 he scored his first goal of the season after coming on as a substitute as Stevenage lost 3-1 at home to Margate in the Conference and it turned out to be Jean-Michel's last game for the club. A few days later he finally joined Margate for a fee of £7,500 plus a sell-on clause and left Stevenage having scored 15 goals in 46 appearances for the club. Margate manager Chris Kinnear told the KM Extra newspaper "Siggy's a strong and skilful striker with a lot of pace."

He made his debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Nuneaton at Margate's adopted home in Dover on 21.12.02 and Chris Kinnear told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "I thought he looked quite good. He's quite mobile and he's got a good touch." The paper concurred and wrote "The Frenchman's talents seem impressive. He has good acceleration, strength and awareness".

After another sub appearance Jean-Michel made his first start up front as Margate beat Gravesend & Northfleet 4-2 at Hartsdown Park on 1.1.03. The KM Extra said he "ran the not-so-fleet Gravesend defence ragged in the opening period". In Margate's next game on 11.1.03 Jean-Michel scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win at Dulwich Hamlet in the FA Trophy and the Thanet Times' match report was inventively headlined "Siggy Stardust". He started the next four matches but didn't score again and after a 3-1 win over Sittingbourne at Hartsdown in the Kent Senior Cup on 28.1.03 Jean-Michel was dropped to the subs bench. On 8.2.03 he came on in a 2-0 win over Leigh at Dover and that started a run of six consecutive sub appearances. The Thanet Times said he "showed some of his best form since signing from Stevenage" after coming on in a 2-1 win over Woking at Dover on 1.3.03.

Jean-Michel made his first start since January on 15.3.03 when he played in a 0-0 draw with Burton at Dover and on 22.3.03 he got his first Conference goal for Margate in a 2-1 defeat against Yeovil at Dover. The Thanet Times said it was "brilliant" as Jean-Michel curled home an effort from the edge of the penalty area and then ripped off his shirt in celebration. The goal started a run of six in four matches with Jean-Michel's next strike coming in a 3-1 defeat at Doncaster on 25.3.03. He then scored twice in a 3-2 win at Hereford on 29.3.03 and Jean-Michel's second goal was an injury time winner after he'd run from his own half to round the keeper and slot home. He bagged another brace in a 3-0 win at Erith & Belvedere in the semi-final of the Kent Senior Cup on 1.4.03 and both Jean-Michel's goals came during extra time.

After a run of four games without scoring he got his eighth goal of the season in a 3-1 win over Scarborough at Dover on 26.4.03. It was Jean-Michel's last outing of the campaign and he missed the Kent Senior Cup Final on 26.4.03 due to a holiday that had been pre-arranged during his time with Stevenage. He made a total of 25 appearances (nine as sub) for Margate during 2002/03.

Jean-Michel scored three times in Margate's pre-season games in the summer of 2003 and two of his goals came in a 4-0 win at Horsham on 22.7.03. He started the first three Conference matches of the 2003/04 campaign before going off with a knee injury at the end of the first half as Margate lost 1-0 to Exeter at Dover on 16.8.03. Initially there were fears that Jean-Michel could be out for the season but it turned out he'd just twisted his knee and he was back in training towards the end of September 2003.

After missing nine games Jean-Michel returned to action on 7.10.03 when he came on as a substitute in a 4-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge and in the last few minutes he missed a penalty when his effort struck the post. He made his first start for almost two months on 11.10.03 as Margate beat Leigh 2-0 at Dover and the Thanet Times said Jean-Michel "impressed in his first game back". It was the beginning of a run of six consecutive starts. Chris Kinnear told the Thanet Times "It was good to have Sigere back and I thought he did well. We took him off, not because he's short of fitness, but in case he picked anything else up because he's not played for a while."

As October 2003 progressed Jean-Michel struggled for form and the Thanet Times said he "seemed out of sorts" in a 3-3 draw at Grays in an FA Cup tie on 25.10.03. In its report on the replay at Ashford on 28.10.03 that Margate lost on penalties after another 3-3 draw the Isle of Thanet Gazette said Jean-Michel "still looks to be short of fitness" and that was his tenth game without a goal.

After a 2-1 defeat against Woking at Dover on 11.11.03 Jean-Michel missed two matches due to a hamstring problem and although he returned to the starting line-up for a 3-0 defeat at Chester on 29.11.03 the injury continued to hamper him. As a result Jean-Michel was used as a substitute in Margate's next six games. He made his first start for six weeks in a 2-2 draw at Dorchester in the FA Trophy on 10.1.04 and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said Jean-Michel "was lively in attack" in the replay at Ashford on 20.1.04 that Margate won 2-0.

On 8.2.04 he finally scored his first goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Halifax at Dover. It was Jean-Michel's 22nd appearance of the campaign and he then started the next five games to equal his best run in the side during the season. He got his next goal in a 3-0 win against Northwich at Witton Albion on 14.2.04 and the Thanet Times said Jean-Michel was "impressive". After four matches without scoring he was on target again in a 3-3 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge at Dover on 6.3.04 and Jean-Michel then took his goal tally to four in a 3-1 win over Accrington at Dover on 16.3.04.

After a 1-0 win at Burton on 27.3.04 he found himself back on the bench and Jean-Michel came on four times in five games up to and including a 2-0 defeat against Scarborough at Dover on 24.4.04. That was Margate's last ever Conference match and he then played from the start as Margate retained the Kent Senior Cup with a 2-1 win at Folkestone on 28.4.04. Jean-Michel didn't score and that took his run without a goal to nine games. In all he'd scored four times in 40 outings (14 as sub) and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said that 2003/04 was "not the finest season of the Frenchman's career". The paper added also said that Jean-Michel had been "blighted by a knee injury picked up in August". He was released from his contract at the end of the season and assistant manager Kevin Raine told the KM Extra "Siggy did well for us, but suffered a lot of injuries, and from a footballing and financial position it makes sense, and it gives us options." Raine also told the Thanet Times "We're not too unhappy to lose him, to be honest."

In July 2004 Jean-Michel joined Conference South club Hornchurch and went on to score six goals from 26 appearances (11 as sub) for the Urchins before signing for Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Heybridge Swifts in January 2005.

He scored twice on his debut as Heybridge beat Yeading 5-1 on 29.1.05 and the Swifts' other scorers that day were both future Margate players - Bertie Brayley and Chris Wild. Jean-Michel scored twice more in five further appearances for Heybridge before moving on to Conference Club Gravesend & Northfleet at the start of March 2005.

He scored on his debut for the Fleet as they beat Scarborough 4-0 at Stonebridge Road on 5.3.05 but Jean-Michel didn't find the net again and at the end of the 2004/05 campaign he was released having made 11 appearances.

In May 2005 he joined Conference South club Lewes and Jean-Michel scored 26 goals for them during the 2005/06 season. His tally included four inside the first hour of a 5-1 win at Sutton on 8.11.05. He signed a new two-year contract in May 2006 but injuries restricted Jean-Michel to just seven Conference South appearances during 2006/07. He scored three goals from those outings. He stayed at Lewes for the 2007/08 campaign but in December 2007 Jean-Michel was loaned to Isthmian League Premier Division club Horsham.

He scored with a long range effort on his debut as Horsham won 5-1 at Tonbridge on 26.12.07 and on 29.12.07 Jean-Michel played in a 1-0 home win over Margate. The Thanet Times said he was Horsham's "bright spark" and "far too good for this level of football". He managed two more goals from two further appearances before going back to Lewes in January 2008.

Jean-Michel made a few more sporadic appearances for Lewes during the remainder of 2007/08 and in April 2008 his goal against Dorchester clinched the Conference South title for the Rooks.

In the summer of 2008 Jean-Michel signed for newly-promoted Conference outfit Eastbourne Borough but after failing to score in five appearances he was loaned to Horsham in October 2008.

It was ten months since Jean-Michel's previous spell with Horsham and he went on to score nine goals up to the end of December 2008 when his loan ended.

Jean-Michel was released by Eastbourne in January 2009 and immediately joined Southern League Premier Division side Farnborough.

He scored once in seven outings for Farnborough before the end of the 2008/09 season and then moved on to Tonbridge Angels of the Isthmian League Premier Division in July 2009.

Jean-Michel scored four goals for the Angels before being released at the start of December 2009.

Immediately after leaving Tonbridge he rejoined Lewes who were back in the Conference South by then and Jean-Michel scored four goals from 21 appearances during the remainder of 2009/10, helping Lewes to avoid relegation. He was released at the end of the season.

In July 2010 Jean-Michel returned to Margate aged 33 six years after leaving the club and manager Iain O'Connell told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "Siggy's agreed terms. He's only 32, he looked fit at training and is still as strong as an ox. He was playing Conference South last year and I know he can help us in our league." O'Connell also added "He's lost a bit of pace since I played with him but he's still got quality."

After scoring in his first friendly appearance - a 2-0 win at Faversham on 24.7.10 - Jean-Michel featured regularly in Margate's pre-season matches before making his first competitive appearance on the opening day of the 2010/11 campaign. He played up front as Margate took on Canvey Island in an Isthmian League Premier Division game at Hartsdown Park on 21.8.10 but was substituted after 70 minutes following a disappointing display. He didn't play again and at the end of August 2010 Jean-Michel was released. Iain O'Connell told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "Siggy's a good friend - it was the hardest thing I've had to in football. We had a chat and he was disappointed but he's also a gentleman, so took it well."

At the start of September 2010 Jean-Michel signed for Conference South club St.Albans and made his debut in 1-0 home defeat against Woking on 4.9.10. He went on to score three goals in 13 outings (three as sub) before joining Walton & Hersham in November 2010.

Jean-Michel's move to the Isthmian League Division 1 South outfit was initially on a dual-registration basis but he never played for St.Albans again and finished the 2010/11 campaign with the Surrey club. He scored four goals from 18 league appearances (eight as sub) for Walton & Hersham.

In June 2011 Jean-Michel joined Isthmian League Division 1 North side Grays Athletic where he made 18 league appearances (11 as sub) without scoring during 2011/12.

In May 2012 he returned to Kent when he signed for Chatham, also of the Isthmian League Division 1 North.

On 18.8.12 Jean-Michel scored twice on his debut for Chatham as they beat visitors Waltham Abbey 4-0 and he found the net once more before leaving the club having made eight league appearances (one as sub).

In November 2012 Jean-Michel moved on to Division 1 South club Crawley Down Gatwick where he made six league appearances (three as sub) without scoring before departing.
