Forward born in Lanchester, Durham who was principally a reserve team player but also made several first team appearances.

Jimmy played eight times for the senior side during 1946/47 and scored twice. The first of his goals was also the club's first after being re-formed following World War II and came in a 1-1 draw with Gillingham Reserves at Gillingham on 31.8.46. It was Jimmy's debut for Margate.

He continued to be a regular in Margate's reserves during 1947/48 and made one first team appearance at the tail-end of the season, scoring in a 3-1 defeat at Maidstone on 30.4.48.

Jimmy stayed with Margate for the 1948/49 campaign too and played exclusively for the reserves during the season.
