In 1949 Keith signed amateur forms with Arsenal and played some games in the Gunners' junior sides as well as continuing to turn out for Walton & Hersham up to the end of the 1951/52 campaign whilst undertaking his National Service.

In May 1952 Arsenal signed Keith as a professional and he spent two seasons at Highbury before being given a free transfer at the end of the 1953/54 term.

In August 1954 he joined Aldershot and went on to make 77 Football League appearances for them before moving to Fulham in August 1958.

However Keith didn't make the Cottagers first team and he dropped into non-league football to join Kidderminster before the end of the 1958/59 season.

He joined Margate in the summer of 1959 and began the 1959/60 campaign as the club's first-choice keeper. Keith played in the season's opening two matches - a 3-2 win over Cambridge United at Hartsdown Park on 22.8.59 and a 2-0 defeat at Kidderminster on 25.8.59 - but was then replaced by Stan Earl and spent the rest of the season in the reserves. However he did make one further first team appearance during May 1960.

Keith was released at the end of the season.
