Versatile player who was on Welling's books as a youngster and made one Conference appearance for them during 1987/88.

Matt later dropped into the Kent County League where he played for Aylesford Paper Mills before joining Margate in February 1993.

After playing in a few reserve team matches in the Kent Midweek League Matt made his first team debut in 2-0 win over Gravesend & Northfleet at Hartsdown Park on 13.3.93. He kept his place for Margate's next game - a 2-1 win at Witney on 20.3.93 - and the Thanet Times reported that Matt was a "dynamic terrier in midfield". The Isle of Thanet Gazette said he was "an extremely good prospect and has already slotted well into the Margate squad". Matt played twice more before the end of the 1992/93 season. His appearances were slightly limited by an agreement Margate had with Aylesford that meant Matt could play for them in Cup ties instead of turning out for Margate.

He made his first appearance of the 1993/94 campaign as a substitute in a 0-0 draw with Fareham at Hartsdown on 21.8.93, the opening day of the season. Matt then enjoyed a run of games in midfield and on 28.8.93 he scored his first goal in a 3-1 win at Wealdstone. The Thanet Times said he was "always a danger" and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said Matt was "outstanding in midfield" during a 3-2 home win over Ashford on 30.8.93. On 11.9.93 Matt had to go off as Margate thrashed visitors Pagham 6-0 in an FA Cup tie and the injury kept him out for nine games. After recovering towards the end of October 1993 he featured regularly for the next few months although often as a substitute. At the end of January 1994 Matt became a regular starter once again and he settled into a new role at right-back. On 17.3.94 he scored the winning goal with a well-judged lob to give Margate a 1-0 win over Charlton in the semi-final of the Kent Senior Cup at Hartsdown and Matt also scored in the club's next match - a 3-2 defeat at Weymouth on 19.3.94 - before a calf injury ruled him out for five games. He returned to the side for a 2-2 draw at Salisbury on 19.4.94 and played twice more before lining up at right-back as Margate took on Dover in the Kent Senior Cup Final at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium on 2.5.94. Matt started the match well and the Isle of Thanet Gazette reported that he was the player giving Dover the most trouble in the first half with his overlapping runs. The paper said "time and again he would cut clear down the flank" but five minutes before half-time Matt was head-butted by Dover's Corey Browne and had to go off. Browne was dismissed by referee Steve Bennett and Margate eventually won 2-1. The Gazette said that Matt had been "well on the way to the 'Man of the Match' award" and he had to have nine stitches in his wound. He didn't play again and ended the season having scored four goals in 33 appearances (nine as sub).

Matt was a fixture at right-back at the start of the 1994/95 campaign and played in 18 of the first 19 games of the season. On 22.10.94 he got his first goal in a 3-0 win at Erith & Belvedere and on 15.11.94 Matt made a one-off appearance as a centre-back in a 1-1 draw with Braintree at Hartsdown. Towards the end of 1994 he played a few games as a striker and on 3.12.94 Matt scored in a 5-2 defeat at Salisbury. After missing five matches at the start of 1995 he reverted to his familiar right-back role for four games in February 1995 but after wearing the number two shirt in a 4-1 home defeat against Havant on 25.2.95 Matt was released. The Isle of Thanet Gazette's report on his exit was headlined "Margate Shock As Lemoine Goes" and said Matt was "thought by many supporters to be one of the success stories of the season, often impressing with his positional alertness and darting runs on the overlap". It was thought he may have fallen out with player-manager Bill Roffey and Matt had scored twice in 29 appearances during 1994/95 before his departure.

After leaving Hartsdown Park Matt joined Ashford and during the 1995/96 campaign he had two loan spells at Tonbridge. Matt stayed at Ashford until the end of the 1996/97 season.

He rejoined Tonbridge for the start of the 1997/98 campaign and went on to score 12 goals for in 79 appearances (16 as sub) for the Angels up to the end of 1998/99.

Matt linked up with Snodland for the 1999/00 season and helped the club win the Kent County League championship. He also played for the club during the 2000/01 campaign.

By 2007 Matt had retired from football and was playing cricket for Horsmonden.

His older brother Adrian played in the Southern League for clubs including Ashford and Tonbridge.
