Dover-born keeper who started his senior career with Dover immediately after leaving school and went on to become a great servant to the club.

Steve became Dover's regular reserve team keeper for the 1985/86 season and also played for the first team when required, usually filling in for Maurice Munden. By the end of the 1991/92 campaign, Steve's seventh at Crabble, he'd made a total of 27 senior appearances. He was still at Dover in October 1993 when he was loaned to Margate to cover for the suspended Kevin Hudson, a former Dover keeper himself.

Steve played in a 3-1 win over Weymouth at Hartsdown Park on 2.10.93 and after making an early error that led to the Terras' goal he did well. The Thanet Times said he "more than made amends for his misjudgement". Steve made a point-blank stop to prevent an equaliser before Margate's third goal and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said he "gave a good account of himself" whilst reporting that Steve told the Margate squad it was his most enjoyable match for a long time. He went back to Dover after the game.

In the summer of 1994 Steve joined Folkestone Invicta and spent almost three seasons there before linking up with Deal towards the end of 1996/97. He made 36 appearances there up to the end of the 1997/98 campaign.

Steve moved on to Hythe United for the 1998/99 season and enjoyed a lengthy stay there up to and including 2005/06 by which time the club were known as Hythe Town. During that season he briefly returned to Dover where he was an unused substitute for their 1-1 draw with Kingstonian at Crabble on 14.3.06. Steve then returned to Hythe and retired in the summer of 2006.
